The Sqallija Terracotta set of Lazarus Tiles was salvaged from Triq San Pawl, San Pawl il-Baħar.
These three-dimensional tiles are known locally as Ta' Palermo as they were a style popular with the Sicilian nobility who used them extensively throughout their palazzos and of which many were used in their Maltese residences.
One can still see this style of encaustic tile in several locations, most notably Villa Messina, the country house of the Count of Messina.
